SHED architectural folly
On my free time, I decided to build a shed to create some space inside of the house for my family. A place to put some extra boxes so that we could store our stuff. However, I wanted it to be a good learning experience, and so I set out to make it beautiful. I drew many designs of different types of sheds, but rather than making it very modern, I stuck with a traditional and industrial look.
The entire shed was not only made with design techniques, but with a very strict and small budget. The entire shed was built with 2x4 planks, and plywood sheets. It was primed with primer paint, and the roof shingles were installed to keep all water out of the shed. It originally was supposed to have wheels, but after engineering difficulty, budget, and the heaviness of the shed, I decided to get rid of them and leave in stationary. My main goals were, however, to just make it look nice. It was my take on an architectural folly. |
DESIGN
My backyard has a lot of green in it, and so I sought out to build the wooden shed that looked nice next to the green. I also have grapevines around the area that I'm building it so I liked the continuity of the roof structure that matches the ladder that the grapevine climbs.
It took me around a week to finish the entire shed and I did it for around 200 bucks. It works and does its job, and it a beautiful addition to the backyard.
