FORGERY Simi Valley, CA
A simple wooden shed structure that stores a metal workshop inside. Sliding doors and vents in the roof allow for ventilation.
ORIGINAL SPACE
The existing site had planters and an old storage shed that would soon be removed. The dirt was then leveled flat and was turned into a post and footing foundation.
FOUNDATION
Concrete footings were used along with treated red hardwood beams to create a strong decking foundation for the structure. You will notice that one platform sits below the other, and this layout was designed for two different spaces that will work together within the forgery.

CONSTRUCTION
The wooden structure was built with stud walls and the roofing material was standard asphalt paper and roofing.
A half partition wall was constructed in between the two decking platforms to create a division of space, while still allowing open access.
The angled roof also had two different slopes also distinguishing the different spaces that sat below. The elevation of the first space was defined with the higher pitched roof.
DETAILS AND CONNECTIONS
The forge has three hang sliding doors and vents in the top of the roof to allow for ventilation for when the furnace is emitting smoke.
INTERIOR
Shown below is the interior space. In the back, it is a storage and there is a sliding door in the back on the left. Also in the front space there is a sliding door to the left, and a sliding door from which the picture is being taken (behind). The front space holds a furnace, a sanding belt, and an anvil.
